As UnternehmerTUM, Europe’s leading center for innovation and entrepreneurship, we have joined forces with EIT Urban Mobility to offer the Innovation & Entrepreneurship modules for the Doctoral Training Network (DTN). This unique program provides PhD candidates with a distinctive opportunity to combine academic research with innovation, entrepreneurship, and real-world experience in the urban mobility sector. Developed in collaboration with leading European universities, researchers, and industry professionals, the program bridges the gap between research and practical application, equipping participants with the entrepreneurial and leadership skills needed to drive sustainable urban mobility solutions.

Learning Goals: Enhance your entrepreneurial and innovative competencies while gaining a deeper understanding of urban mobility. Develop intercultural communication skills, leadership, and creativity, all while contributing to sustainable urban mobility solutions.
Application Requirements : For doctoral candidates enrolled in a PhD program at an EIT Urban Mobility partner university or external candidates who meet the criteria. Applicants must have at least two years remaining before completing their dissertation and conduct research related to urban mobility.

About the program
The Innovation & Entrepreneurship modules, conducted by UnternehmerTUM, provide a structured, blended learning experience that includes Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), interactive webinars, hands-on workshops, and expert coaching:
- Module 1: Entrepreneurial Thinking (11 weeks) – Develop an entrepreneurial mindset, explore problem-solving frameworks, and apply design thinking to urban mobility challenges.
- Module 2: Innovation (11 weeks) – Learn how to prototype solutions, test business ideas, and refine research with a customer-centric approach.
- Module 3: Business Creation (15 weeks) – Gain expertise in business modeling, funding strategies, and startup development to transform research into market-ready solutions.
Guided by expert trainers, business design coaches, and industry mentors, doctoral candidates will develop entrepreneurial thinking, innovation skills, and leadership capabilities. The program enables participants to:
- Identify and validate entrepreneurial opportunities in urban mobility.
- Apply innovation methodologies such as Design Thinking and Lean Startup.
